As a QA/QM/QC engineer with a background in hard state electronics, I have self-taught skills in electrical work and machine shop equipment. I also work extensively with potting compounds, encapsulating industrial electronic components in various materials. With this experience, I can confidently say that AB is comparable to industrial-grade potting compounds.
I had a faucet in my house with a poorly designed handle that was secured by a set screw. After repeated use, the handle became loose. While the valve still functioned, the handle wouldn’t stay in place. I used this AB product to fill the orifice where the valve stem was inserted and then tightened a flat head screw into the intended port. Since then, it has performed flawlessly for several years, with the handle securely fixed in place and no play in its movement. The JB Weld and screw essentially “welded” the handle in position as the putty set.
I encountered a more complex issue with another faucet, but the key takeaway is that with JB Weld and some creativity, I made the handle nearly shatter-proof. You can slam it down without it coming loose.
