This handheld welder was a breeze to set up right out of the box. It took a bit of practice to master striking an arc, but once I got the hang of it, it was smooth sailing. I did notice that I needed to increase the amp setting a bit higher than my 220-volt welder, but with a maximum of 250 amps, that was not an issue. The convenience of using 110 volts is fantastic since you can easily find outlets anywhere. I highly recommend this handheld welder; it’s a fantastic tool!

The welder appears to function effectively, but as someone with limited welding experience, I know it will take me some time to master it. I encountered an issue with the rod holder; it would stick to the metal, and when I pulled it away, the holder became loose. Eventually, the machine stopped holding the outlet securely. Unfortunately, there’s no source for a replacement part, and if I can’t locate one, this unit will become unusable for me. I really wish there was a website where I could purchase this part, as it would make things much easier.

I purchased this welder for small home projects since it operates on 110 VAC. I used the recommended 3/32″ rods to ensure my house breaker could handle it. It worked adequately for my first attempt at welding, although my results were not pretty; the pieces still stuck together, so I definitely need more practice. The unit comes with everything needed, but I wish it included welding rods. It’s lightweight, compact, and easy to handle, with a rotating knob for continuous power adjustment. Everything fits neatly inside the carrying case, making storage hassle-free. However, I do need to buy a welding helmet and a better hammer, as the accessories included are cheap plastic and not suitable for serious use.

I’ve always been on the lookout for new gadgets, and this welder is definitely not a toy! My first test involved a 100ft, 12 ga. extension cord to check for line loss, and it performed impressively, effortlessly burning through 1/8″ angle iron. With over 40 years of welding and fabrication experience, I found it very straightforward to set up and start using. So far, I’ve only tried it with 6011 3/32 rods, but I have no doubt it will handle 1/8″ rods just as well. Beginners might struggle a bit with starting the arc, but that hasn’t been an issue for me. If it lasts longer than 3-4 years, I’ll consider it a great investment.

I was initially doubtful about this tool, as I typically purchase all my gear from HF and have never encountered anything like it. While I’m not a professional welder, I often assist friends and family, making this tool incredibly convenient to transport. I’m unsure of the specific technology it employs, but it welds remarkably smoothly (I use thin rods and set it to 105). It includes gloves and glasses, though I recommend keeping them as backups. Highly recommend!
