I’ve had this machine for a while now and have pushed it hard with 5/32 7018 at 160 amps without any issues. I recommend upgrading the leads if you’re going to weld at that amperage, which I did right away. So far, I haven’t managed to overheat it, even after running more than six 5/32 rods at 160 amps in a row. The only drawback I’ve encountered is that it doesn’t handle 6010 well, even at 3/32. However, 6011 works perfectly.

I was skeptical about all the hype, but with a $30 off coupon, I had to give it a shot. I’m using a 220v setup, and the 1/16 to 3/32 6011 rods weld flawlessly at 88 amps. The 1/8 7018 rods are quite thick and melt beautifully at 145 amps. My doubts are gone—this machine is a pleasure to use. As a MIG welder who always wanted a Lincoln tombstone, I’m impressed by how compact and lightweight this setup is (around 5 lbs). The last pass in the photo was done with 7018, and it really creates a heavy puddle.
Update (3/15/24): The ground and electrode wires are subpar. If you’re welding at 135 amps with 1/8 rods, it might sound smooth, but it’s actually struggling. Swapping in some 2 AWG ground and electrode wires will make a world of difference—this machine will really perform! Just strip and secure the old ends; that’s all you need. Check out eBay sellers like temco or Acdcwireandsupply for “2 AWG welding wire.” You can get 40 feet for about $100—10 feet for ground and 30 feet for electrode. This setup lets you work on any size trailer while the machine stays in one spot.
For reference, 3/32 rods burn at 55 amps, which is perfect for filling in voids, while 1/8 rods burn at 85 amps and sing beautifully at 95-100 amps. If you’re having trouble starting the electrode, it’s likely due to the poor ground wire. Trust me, you’ll be saying, “dude, that’s money.”

I’m relatively new to welding, but this machine really delivers a strong bead. I can weld 16 gauge steel at just 20-25 amps, and it handles 125 amps for 7018 rods with ease for heavier tasks. I was initially doubtful, but its duty cycle is comparable to much larger machines. It’s definitely worth the investment. Even my welding instructor was impressed!
