While the packaging lists ABS as a compatible plastic, I came across numerous reviews claiming this product doesn’t work with ABS. Still, I decided to take a chance. A small plastic tab that secures the washing machine timer had broken off, making the washer unusable. A new control panel cover would cost nearly $100, so I opted to try gluing the tab back on. My first attempt used JB Weld Original, which I had on hand, but it didn’t work. I carefully scraped off the dried glue with a sharp knife and ordered JB Weld PlasticWeld, all while laundry piled up around the house. Once the new glue arrived, I thoroughly cleaned the plastic parts with isopropyl alcohol and let them dry while I mixed the JB Weld PlasticWeld. I applied a thin layer with a toothpick and pressed the tab back into place, holding it down for several minutes until it set. To reinforce the tiny but crucial piece, I mixed a little extra glue and applied it over the seam, then let it cure for 48 hours. Although the package suggests one hour, I wanted to be cautious since this was my last chance to fix it affordably. This morning, I reinstalled the timer and replaced the control panel cover. Holding my breath, I pushed the timer skirt back into place (so far, so good), then inserted the timer control knob. Still holding my breath, I pressed it to rotate the timer and start the washer, and it held! Now I’m on my fifth load of the day, and it runs like new. The lesson here is to trust the manufacturer rather than some dissatisfied reviewer who may not have followed the instructions. This glue is incredibly strong and truly works on ABS!
Update — July 1, 2022: Nearly two years later, and the washing machine, which is used almost daily, is still functioning perfectly!

I purchased this product to reattach the plastic shell of my laptop, as the two pieces of the screen were starting to separate near the hinge due to frequent opening and closing. It was quite frustrating, and I was worried that the plastic would eventually crack if I didn’t find a solution. When the PlasticWeld arrived, I eagerly opened the package, tore off a piece of the cardboard box, and grabbed my laptop. I used sandpaper to roughen the areas needing repair, which also helped remove some of the old adhesive. I turned the cardboard into a mixing tray, squirted out a generous amount of the weld mix, and combined it using the provided wooden stick. Once it was mixed, I positioned the laptop where the plastic pieces were separating and applied the weld to both surfaces with the stick. After ensuring both pieces were well-coated, I closed the laptop and pressed the plastic back together. After cleaning up the excess weld, I placed the laptop under a couch cushion while I had lunch, hoping my weight would help keep the pieces together as it cured. About 30 minutes later, I checked and noticed there was no separation. I let it cure overnight, and since then, I’ve used the laptop daily without any issues in that area. The bond is strong enough to handle the stress of opening, closing, and adjusting the screen. While I can’t guarantee it will work for every application, it was perfect for my needs and has made me think of times in the past when it could have saved items I ended up discarding.
